Any casino that is looking to expand its patron base should consider starting a regular comedy night. This can be the perfect way to get new patrons to come in and to add value to regular patrons’ experiences.

As an added plus, the comedy night isn’t an expensive production. Generally it is inexpensive, especially compared to other shows with a much larger production budget.

You don’t even have to rely on nationally known comedians for a show to work. You can use regional comedians, and produce a 90-minute two-person show that can be a huge draw. Regional comedians often have made a name for themselves in resorts and comedy clubs. You can book them via a comedy club booking agency.

Better still, a weekly comedy night can draw many patrons between 25-55 who maybe would not otherwise come to a casino. All it takes is some promotion and word of mouth.

When new patrons come in, they are naturally going to want to check out all of the different amenities that the casino has to offer. They’ll likely visit the gaming tables, and have a bite at the restaurant or a drink at the bar while they are there.

For patrons who are already regulars, a comedy night can be a nice amenity. Patrons like to relax and take breaks from gaming. A comedy show that lasts 90 minutes is a nice break and lets people laugh and relax before returning to the tables.

In the Midwest, casino comedy nights are becoming especially popular. In this area of the country, many casinos are in areas that don’t have comedy clubs. Comedy night at the casino is often the best opportunity for local residents to come see a comedy show. Plus, a casino draws in “big city” entertainment that they otherwise might not get to see.

If it sounds like a comedy night might be a good addition to your casino’s lineup, the key thing to remember is to go to a reputable and established comedy booking agency. Be sure to book through a company that is familiar with your region, and that knows the audience you hope to attract.

Video poker has become one of the more popular forms of casino play these days, because a lot of people don’t want the psychological interaction of a full fledged poker table and prefer the one on one interaction that they can have with a machine and their own thought processes. With the fantastic advances we have in technology today, the general public can enjoy the immense fun there is to be had playing this game once you learn how to win at video poker.

Well, just because you are parked in front of a machine, doesn’t mean there aren’t rules and regulations to be followed; quite the opposite. To be a good player and someone who walks away with some cash in their pockets now and then; you have to learn how to win at video poker and learn it well. The basic strategy is that the game is based on a 52 card deck with some games of poker requiring the jokers thrown in. The play begins with the machine dealing randomly to you 5 cards; you examine them, mark the ones you want to hold, and then discard the rest. The machine deals you replacement cards for the ones you discarded, and you are paid according to what 5 cards you are left holding and their poker value.

Strategy is important in many card games, but poker is right up there at the top of the list. If you want to become a good poker player and learn how to win at video poker, then you have to have a strategy in mind when you sit down in front of the machine—-just going with the flow, or winging it won’t get you anywhere except broke. Firstly, always bet the maximum amount allowed in coins on any machine you play—all the big winners in video poker play are the ones who always bet the max. Then, do some reading and find out what the play strategy is for every kind of hand you could be dealt, and learn what to play or hold depending on what cards you are holding—-knowing how to play your initially dealt hand is crucial to the outcome of the game. And find a liberal pay table to play, so you can make the most out of your betting strategy.

Betting the max in coins allowed makes perfect sense when you apply the old adage: the more you wager, the more you win. The win for any given hand of cards is directly proportional to the amount bet; except for one example—-when the payouts are tallied on various boards around town, you will notice that learning how to win at video poker depends on how to read the boards and bet accordingly; because in the case of Royal Flushes—-you may be shortchanged on your payout of getting a Royal Flush if you don’t bet the max. Most boards will list the payout of such as: you will win 1000 if you bet 4 coins, but you will win 4000 if you bet 5 coins (the max). What a difference a coin makes. This little burp in the board declarations is called “An Economy of Scale”.

Remember this also, that for every penny spent on the video poker machines, points are rewarded and these points can be redeemed for comps of all kinds, and free play. But, the deal is, if you don’t use a player card, the casino or house has no way of knowing how much or how long you are playing and therefore no way to assign points or comps—-you must use a player card to leave a play trail. And don’t be fooled by the wise old fools out there that pontificate to you when you are learning how to win at video poker; because they will try to pass on incorrect info about the player cards—-and that is, that if you use one, the machine will not pay out as well—-WRONG. The use of a player card is strictly for tallying amount played and has no bearing on the odds or performance of the machine whatsoever.

When you are perfecting your performance as a winning video poker player and you have learned your lessons well on how to win at video poker, there is a site online that you should check out that will help you interpret the payout tables found on the various machines, and what those tables mean. The site is vpfree2.com and it has loads of info above and beyond the payout tables that you may find very useful. As you become more familiar with the world of video poker, you will begin to see the relationships of the payout tables to the play and how you can make the most of the more liberal tables; for example, the payouts vary very little except when it comes to dealing with a flush or a full house—-the middle hands seem to have more variance than the others.

Poker is a hands down, knock ‘em dead, great card game—-the most beloved in the world—-and its spinoff-video poker—is just as much fun and just as challenging without the psychology of the other players messing up your thought processes. For outright fun and good times with just you and the machine going at it face to face, learning to win at video poker is a must to truly get the most out of the whole experience, not to mention some money as well.

Poker just keeps getting more and more popular with each passing year, and the desire on the part of people who host poker games in their homes to provide a unique gaming experience is growing as well. Whereas almost all in-home poker games once required every player to keep their cash on the table, the growing standard now involves using poker chips. For many who host such poker get-togethers on more than an occasional basis, using custom poker chips is one way to personalize the experience while safeguarding the integrity of the chip bank.

If you’re a regular poker player who plays host to other players, you may want to consider acquiring custom poker chips for your games. Customization can take many forms, from specific color schemes to personalized designs such as the logo of a sports team or seasonal designs. In fact, you can choose to have a number of different customized sets – opting for different sets for the various sports seasons, as well as traditional holidays such as Christmas and the Fourth of July. Custom poker chips make the perfect gift for those friends and family members who love the game, and are one gift that you can be sure the recipient will actually use.

For anyone hosting poker games on a regular basis, custom poker chips can make a powerful statement about the seriousness of the game, while also serving as a security measure to keep the game honest. While it would be nice to assume that you can trust everyone with whom you play poker, the fact is that disruptions to the game do occur – usually when someone attempts to cheat the system by bringing their own chips to the game and cashing them in at the end of the night. If your chips are standard and easy to replicate, the odds of someone being able to make your bank come up short at the end of the night are dramatically increased.

Getting custom poker chips has never been easier. From online printing stores to the print shop down the street, you can always find someone who can produce the design you have in mind. You can even do it yourself on your home computer. When you outsource the job, remember that most companies will charge you extra to create the design for you. It is almost always cheaper to provide the design yourself. In addition, you should be aware that printing sticker labels to insert on your chips is always cheaper than engraving on the chip itself. To save money, shop around purchase the simple plain plastic chips or clay chips at your local hobby store.

For anyone creative enough to produce the chips on their own, today’s technology makes it easier than ever. With the right stickers (matte finish preferred), and a good printer, you can often create beautiful custom poker chips that will be every bit as polished in appearance as those from the printers. Once finished, you can present your custom poker chips at your next poker night. They’re sure to be the talk of the evening!

No one really knew what to make of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2009 NFL season. Would they continue to improve on their winning season or would they head in the opposite direction?

No one really knew what to make of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2009 NFL season. Would they continue to improve on their winning season or would they head in the opposite direction?

The Bucs rank among the worst in defense and offense and the future looks bleak. The Bucs had potentially a few Hall of Fame players on their team 7 years ago, now they are just looking to avoid a 3 win season.

Former head coach Jon Gruden is now broadcasting for Monday Night Football – he doesn’t have to deal with the Bucs team anymore. He’s probably pretty happy about this though.

The defense didn’t change much. They’re one of the worst units in the league and they should have spent a bit more on balancing out the squad, not just improving the offense.

Head coach Raheem Morris, at 33 years old, is one of the youngest head coaches in football. Some might believe that is too young but to save money teams will spend less on a young coach rather then pay the high price tag for a coach with Super Bowl wins. Head coach Mike Tomlin is the youngest head coach to win a Super Bowl, he was just 36 years old.

Things didn’t exactly work out this way for the Bucs. The Cowboys jumped out to an early lead and never really looked back, taking the game by a score of 34-21.

QB Josh Johnson has been named the started of the Bucs – while it’s too early to say what he is made of – if the Bucs were confident in his abilities he would have been named the starter over Leftwich to begin with.

The Bucs defense is one of the worst in the league – if not THE worst – the Bucs have given up more the 30 points more times then many teams give up the entire season. It will be a long season for the Bucs in 09′.

The Dallas Mavericks lost in the second round to the Denver Nuggets in the 09' playoffs. This time the Mavs weren't the favorites but the under dogs - which they are not familiar in being.

The Dallas Mavericks lost in the second round to the Denver Nuggets in the 09′ playoffs. This time the Mavs weren’t the favorites but the under dogs – which they are not familiar in being.

The Mavs have fallen back the last couple seasons – they were once the frontrunner in the West but now have become an average team. It wasn’t too long ago they were going deep into the playoffs.

In 06, the Mavs were up two games on the Miami Heat then lost 4 games in a row. The Mavs did rebound a season later with an outstanding record of 67-15, only to lose in the first round.

In 08′-09′Dirk Nowitzki had another stellar season averaging nearly 26 points per game. While Dirk has been criticized for his leadership in the past – he still is one of the best players in the game.

Most notably, Shawn Marion’s addition to the team will give the Mavs a defensive toughness that the team desperately needs. Shawn Marion will reunite with former teammate Jason Kidd (they played together in Phoenix with the Suns), and his all around versatility will be invaluable to the team. If Marion can contribute like he did in Phoenix, this move will payoff big for Cuban.

It seems as if the Mavs can score plenty of points now – but can they stop anyone on defense. To win games in the playoffs teams must stop opposing teams in critical situations; the Mavs do not have a shut down type player. Opposing teams scoring average was in the middle of the league at 15th.

Dirk Nowitzki is often forced to focus on rebounds, which takes away from his ability to do what he does best – score the basketball. He’s still put up big numbers over the years, but it’s been tough come playoff time. He’s been called out on his presence when it comes to playing under pressure.

The Mavs have won 50 or more games every season since the 00′-01′ season which shows great consistency. Dirk Nowitzki isn’t getting any younger and he might only have 2-3 more seasons where is he an elite player with an opportunity for a championship. The Mavs would like to get another shot at the NBA Finals – and this time finish their opponents.

The Chicago Bulls are a very young team. Just a couple of seasons ago, they were one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference.

The Chicago Bulls are a very young team. Just a couple of seasons ago, they were one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference.

The Bulls were a very good home team, 28-13, but a terrible road team,–28. This will have to improve if the Bulls want home court advantage in the playoffs come the spring time.

Point guard and rookie sensation Derrick Rose had a fantastic rookie season. Rose averaged 6 assists per game, 16 points per game and started 81 games. Rose is a very explosive player and has all-star written on him.

Much of the Bulls’ success hinges upon the youth of this team. It seems as if each season, the Chicago Bulls are acquiring more promising young talent, and one season, everything will gel. This may be the year. Let’s take a look at some of the players in the mix.

Young teams in the NBA typically don’t win much so a year under Rose’s belt should help his game. The point guard should be a leader on the court as well as scorer when necessary, Rose can do anything he chooses.

Teams in the Bulls division – Indiana Pacers, Milwaukee Bucks, Detroit Pistons (w/ the exception being the Cleveland Cavaliers and maybe the Detroit Pistons) are not better then the Chicago Bulls.

And then there’s Luol Deng, still only 24 years of age. He’s had some bad luck with injuries, but if Deng can stay healthy, he will add a great value to this team.

The Bulls lack a scoring big man, while they have Tyrus Thomas, Brad Miller and Joakim Noah, none are low post scoring threats each time down the court. Their skills are not “low post friendly”. The Bulls big men typically get their points off rebounds and fast breaks points. This will be a problem for the Bulls now that the Cavs have Shaquille O’Neal. Brad Miller always seemed to guard Shaq well throughout his career.

The Detroit Pistons had a very disappointing season in 08′-09′. They definitely didn’t look like the Pistons of just a few seasons back.

Chauncey Billups is now in Denver (and playing great basketball). Allen Iverson, who was acquired in this trade, has also left town to sign with the Bobcats (so much for winning that championship anytime soon). Then there’s Rasheed Wallace, who opted to join the Celtics after the end of this season.

In are Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva, two capable scorers. In is Ben Wallace, a familiar face from the past, though not nearly as effective as he used to be.

Ben Gordon should help their scoring issues. He put up some very respectable numbers in the past for the Bulls and even came up big in several playoff games.

Villanueva comes in with some size. He can score points as well and with his presence on defense, he should help improve both sides of the ball.

Say what you want about the Pistons. They’re a different team than they once were, but they’re clearly not throwing in the towel either. It was about 7 or 8 years ago that the Pistons were the joke of the NBA, and GM Joe Dumars has done a terrific job at rebuilding the team. It’s apparent that the Chauncey Billups trade was a bad idea, but the Detroit Pistons are ready to accept their current state and move on.

There’s some talented youth in Rodney Stuckey, and he’ll finally have the opportunity to shine at the point guard position. Additionally, Jason Maxiell will continue to develop, and Chris Wilcox will provide the team with some solid minutes at the forward and center positions.

Meet the new Detroit Pistons. There’s certainly some talent to go around here. Perhaps they’ll surprise us all.

The Charlotte Bobcats went 35-47 in the 08′-09′ season – the Bobcats best season since their inception since 2004. The Bobcats really have improved every season they been in the NBA – if this trend continues hopefully the Bobcats will make the playoffs for the first time in 2010.

While this is by no means a record to celebrate about, they just missed the playoffs by four games. The Charlotte Bobcats also played some of their best basketball toward the end of the season, and this left many NBA fans wondering whether the team might be able to continue moving into the direction of a competitive basketball team.

While there’s a decent amount of talent on the team, much of the credit has to go to Larry Brown, who joined the team as its head coach last season. Brown has a storied resume that includes stints in Detroit (where he won a championship), Indiana, Philadelphia (where he made the NBA finals), and other teams around the league.

A young basketball team typically does not know how to win close games and don’t do well on the road – this should change to a degree this season.

The Bobcats in the 08′- 09′ season were a pretty good team at home, 23-18 – but the road record is what prevented them from making the playoffs, 12-29. If the Bobcats can maintain a good home record like a season ago and improve their road record, they will be close to a .500 team.

The loss of Emeka Okafor may hurt the Bobcats in rebounding in the long term – Okafor was 10th in the NBA in rebounding averaging 10.1 per game.

F Gerald Wallace averaged nearly 17 points per game last season and will need to continue to do so this season.

Keep an eye on the Bobcats this year. A young team that’s only getting better, they can definitely make some noise.

During the past few seasons, the Denver Nuggets have been one of those teams that generally play respectable basketball, finish the season with a winning record, make the playoffs and exits in the first round. Basketball fans had become accustomed to seeing this take place on a yearly basis, so people were surprised (to say the least) to witness the run that the Denver Nuggets embarked on during the 2009 NBA playoffs.

The most shocking reason for this all stems from the fact that the Nuggets had traded Allen Iverson, the team’s second highest scorer, to the Detroit Pistons. This panned out to be a great deal!

The Nuggets look to improve on this upcoming season and make it to the finals. They didn’t have any real changes during the off-season, but their core is all healthy and will continue to improve with time.

The addition of point guard Chauncey Billups essentially changed their season for the better once he arrived in town. Billups brought a defensive mentality from the Detroit Pistons who were one of the best defensive teams of the decade.

Then there’s Carmelo Anthony, one of the most natural point scorers in the league. With the arrival of Billups and his defensive skills, this only helped Melo on the defensive side of the ball.

Birdman, also known as Chris Andersen stepped up off the bench and had a huge year. He’s become one of the best shot blockers in the league.

One who provided much “entertainment” for the Denver Nuggets was Chris “The Birdman” Andersen off the bench. The Birdman has become one of the best shot blockers averaging nearly 3 blocks per game. Look for him to have another great defensive season.

The Denver Nuggets do have NBA Finals potential. But if they expect to make it there it seems as if they will have to go through the Lakers once again, Denver should improve as a team overall in 09-10.

Not many people would have thought the Titans would start the season this badly. This could mean the Titans' season is already over before it really started.

Not many people would have thought the Titans would start the season this badly. This could mean the Titans’ season is already over before it really started.

The Titans play in the AFC South, the same division as the Indianapolis Colts – this doesn’t bode well for the Titans. Once you dig yourself a hole in the NFL in the beginning, you spend the rest of the season trying to climb out of it.

Many thought this was a Super Bowl team last season. I think I thought so myself. They made a few changes during the off-season that seemed positive.

The acquisition of Nate Washington at wide receiver and a few other players made it seem like this team would be just fine, despite the fact that they lost their best defender in Albert Haynseworth.

They don’t seem to be doing anything different then last year – which might be the problem this year.

With the loss of DT Albert Haynesworth, the Titans defense may not be as strong as it once was but they still have defensive skill players such as Cortland Finnegan, Chris Hope, Keith Bulluck, and Nick Harper.

I do remember the Texans generally playing competitive football against the Titans. For some reason, it seems like they have their number on offense and end up putting a lot more points on the board than most teams do. They’ll still pull out wins though. Not this time.

After two weeks of the NFL season, the Titans find themselves in the cellar of the AFC South. Quite the change from last year.
